There are many beautiful places to visit in Krabi and on Phi Phi Islands. They include;
KHAO KHNANAP NAM
Khao Khnanap Nam is one of Krabi’s most prominent landmarks. They are two hills that have the Krabi River running between them. Found in the caves of these hills are stalactites and stalagmites and a large number of human skeletons. It is believed that these skeletons are of the first settlers that lived in Kanab Nam. Visiting these hills is easy as you can catch a long-tail boat from Chao Fa Pier.
THAM SUA
Tham Sua is also known as Tiger Cave, and is roughly 3kms from Krabi Town.
Inside this cave, there appears to be tiger paw prints embedded in the stones. The area surrounding the cave is covered with large trees that are over a hundred of years old. Also, found at this site is stone tools, pottery remains, and a mold for making Buddha footprints. This area is a medication center as well.
SUSAN HOI (Fossil Shell Beach)
Susan Hoi or Fossil Shell Beach is a shell graveyard at Ban Laem Pho, 17kms from Krabi town. It is thought that this area was a large freshwater swamp about 40 million years ago. Here a certain kind of indigenous snail lived and died in large numbers and with weather changes that made the swamp disappear, a forty centimeter thick layer of fossilized snail shells was formed.
HAT NOPPHARAT THARA
Hat Noppharat Thara is also known as Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park. This beach strip lies about 18kms northwest of Krabi and is 6kms from Ao Nang. A picturesque beach, it is lined with casuarinas trees and is a popular weekend destination for the locals. The beach is also paved with tiny seashells and is also called "Hat Khlong Haeng" by locals, which means dried canal beach. THAM SADET
Tham Sadet is a beautiful cave filled with stalactite and stalagmite formations. Located at Ban Nong Kok, Tambon Sai Thai, 7kms from Krabi town on Highway 4034, this cave was named after a visit by King Rama VI before he ascended the throne. The word "Sadet" indicates the fact that royalty visited here.
THAN BOKKHORANI NATIONAL PARK
The Than Bokkhorani National Park is located in Tambon Ao Leuk Tai. This park is home to many different varieties of trees indigenous to Thailand and the area in particular that surround the Sa Bokkhorani pond. Wild gardenia, asoka, and apocynaceae all grow here. At the northern end of the pond is a wood carved footprint of the Buddha and a shrine of Chao PhoTo Yuan - To Chong.
THAM PHI HUA TO
Tham Phi Hua To or Tham Hua Kalok is located in Amphoe Ao Luk on Phi Hua To Mountains. Surrounded by mangrove swamps this cave is reached by a canal just beyond Tham Lod Tai. At the entrance, the cave divides into 2 paths, the left one to a huge chamber inside the cave, while the right path leads to a hall, which is believed to have been a shelter for prehistoric people as many rock paintings can be seen on the cave walls. The cave is named Phi Hua To or ‘Big-headed Ghost’ as unusually large skulls have been discovered here.
KAO PHANOM BENCHA NATIONAL PARK
Kao Phanom Bencha National Park is 20 kilometers from Krabi Town. It covers an area of 50 square kilometers including some parts of Amphoe Ao Luk, Amphoe Khao Phanom and Amphoe Muang. This park has thick forests and breathtaking scenery with streams, waterfalls, and wild animals. Located nearby is Khao Thep Bencha, which is the tallest mountain in Krabi.
KRABI HORTICULTURAL CENTER
Another place of interest to visit is the Krabi Horticultural Center 20kms from Krabi on the way to Amphoe Ao Luek. This center has an enormous and fantastic collection of local fruits, flowers and plants native to the province.
THUNG TEAO FROEST
Thung Teao Forest is located in the area of Khao Pra-Bang Khram, a no-hunting zone close to Bang Teao Village. This forest has many natural ponds, rare floral species and is home to several types of birds. A 2.7 kilometer trail through the forest offers nature lovers an opportunity to explore this natural untouched environment.
KO PHI PHI DON
Phi Phi Island is an archipelago of six islands, the largest of which is Ko Phi Phi Don. Covering an area of 28 square kms, this island’s best attraction is Ao Ton Sai, a vast bay with a white sand beach that stretches to a mountain range into the sea. Laem Tong in the north has a sea gypsy village that is a must-visit place and is renowned for it underwater beauty.
KO PHI PHI LEI
Phi Phi Lei Island is a protected habitat and has no accommodations here. Only day trips to the island are allowed. Phi Phi Lei has several beautiful bays such as Pi Le where part of the sea is nearly surrounded by steep cliffs. Another attraction on the island is Tham Viking, or the Vking Cave, which is a vast and airy cave and is home to a large number of swallows. On the cave wall are ancient paintings of Vikings sailing ships.
KO PHAI & KO YUNG
Ko Phai lies to the north of Phi Phi Don. Here there are lovely unspoiled and uninhabited beaches and coral reefs on the islands. Ko Yung also lies to the north of Phi Phi Don and has a rocky beach on its eastern side teeming with various kinds of colorful coral reefs.
MU KO LANTA NATIONAL PARK
Ko Lanta is an island off the Krabi coast. The Mu Ko Lanta National Park is made up of many different islands surrounded by beautiful coral reefs such as Ko Ha, Ko Rok and Ko Hai. The main island in the park is Ko Lanta Yai, which is actually quite rugged and hilly. Ko Lanta Yai is also home to sea gypsies, which are amazing to look as they still maintain their traditional way of life.
