Asian tourist destinations like Taiwan have eased visa requirements for some tourists to make travel and tourism to Asia hassle free. Tourists not included in the list of those having eased requirements can obtain a Taiwan visa for tourism in next to no time if they follow these pointers.
Taiwan Visa Exempt Entry
Most people are not required to apply for a visa if they are traveling to Taiwan for tourism. You can get your passport stamped with a 2 week visa at the airport on arrival if you are a citizen of the following countries (No visa extensions will be granted):

Austria
Belgium
Canada
Costa Rica
France
Germany
Greece
Italy
Japan
Luxembourg
New Zealand
the Netherlands (Holland)
Portugal

Visitors to Taiwan (for tourism) from these countries must posses the following:
A passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival
A confirmed return air ticket
A clean character certificate
Landing Taiwan Visa
Landing visas are similar to Exempt Entry visas except that the period of stay is 30 days. Tourists who travel to Taiwan for tourism can avail their tourist visas on arrival for 30 days (extensions are not permitted) upon payment of fees. This facility is available to the residents of the following countries.

Tourist Visa Application requirements:
A passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival
A confirmed return air ticket
A completed application
Taiwan visa fee
All tourists will be charged NT $1, 200 plus a handling fee of NT $800
A visa fee of NT$1,500 plus a handling fee will be charged from citizens of the U.S.A.
Tourist arriving in Taiwan from the countries under reciprocal agreements shall be charged no visa fee
Tourist from countries not included in these lists must apply for a Taiwan visa at the embassies and consulates of Taiwan or to the ROC embassies or consulates. You will get a tourist visa after you fulfill requirements similar to those mentioned here. Keep in mind that visa fees are subject to change so you should find out the exact amount prior to applying.
