Taiwan Weather

Taiwan has sub-tropical weather. The mountain ranges are snow caped in winter and are chilly even in summer. Taiwan weather is generally sticky in the summer when the lower regions of the country are hit by heavy rainfall making the climate hot and humid. The average summer temperature in Taiwan is 24° - 33°C (75°- 91°F) and the average winter temperature is 19°C (66°F). The southern part of Taiwan has relatively higher temperatures. Taiwan tourism is at its peak in November.

 

Culture of Taiwan

Taiwan culture is a derivation of Chinese culture that also has pronounced traces of Japanese as well as American cultures. Taiwanese music and cuisine are greatly influenced by Japanese music and cuisine. This is the effect of 50 years of colonial rule by Japan. There are two opinions on Taiwan culture: some think the Han ethnicity and Chinese language makes Taiwanese culture nothing more than a replica of Chinese culture, others think that Taiwanese language makes it a distinct culture very much different from China. Some main features of Taiwan culture are :

  • Japanese karaoke known as KTV in Taiwan.
  • The National Palace Museum contains 650,000 unique and historic Chinese pieces. This is an extensive collection which came to Taiwan in 1949.   
  • Baseball, basketball and badminton are the popular sports.
  • Milk tea and bubble tea are the famous Taiwanese drinks.
