One of the recommended things to do is to go on a Galle Day tour. Galle is a port city that has a view of all that comes in and out of area. The architecture reflects a colonial presence, an example of this is the first protestant Church that the Dutch built. There is also a Dutch Fort. Pinnawela Day Tour
The Pinnawela Day Tour is recommended as one of the most entertaining things to get involved with and is educational. You should check out the Elephant Orphanage at Pinnawela, which has more than 60 elephants, mostly orphans. You will see baby elephants being bottle-fed, being bathed and and spraying each other with water.
Ceylon Highlights
Another interesting thing to do in Sri Lanka is to go for a country tour (Ceylon Highlights). Taking this tour will help you learn more about the area, the people and the culture in Sri Lanka. Some of the impressive things include: the Dambulla cave temple (it has more than forty eight Buddha statues), the Sigiriya rock fortress (a huge monolith of red stone more than 600 ft high) and Polonnarawa that has a colossal reclining Buddha carved into a granite boulder. You can also see the royal city of Kandy and the popular Elephant Orphanage.
Tour of Kandy
There is a tour that you could take of Kandy where you will get to see the Royal Botanical Gardens and have an early evening visit to the Temple of the Tooth Relic. You will get to see a traditional Kandyan dance performances.
Yala National Park
A recommended tour in Sri Lanka is the overnight tour to the Yala National Park. At this park you will get to see leopards as it is one of the only parks that has this animal. In addition to having the opportunity of seeing a leopard, elephants and bears are commonly sighted here. You will also get to see other animals and several species of birds.
