Pusan, also known as Busan, is a metropolitan city in South Korea. Pusan is acclaimed as the largest harbor of Korea. Pusan is situated at the southeast corner of Korea. The city has a population of approximately 4 million. It is the second most densely populated city in Korea, after Seoul.
The city gained importance when it hosted the Asian games in 2002. It also hosted some of the matches for the 2002 FIFA World Cup. Pusan also hosted the PIFF (Pusan International Film Festival), the largest film festival in Asia.
If you take a closer look at the map of Pusan, you will see that the western border has the Kumjung Mountains, which is a popular tourist spot on weekends. People also visit to enjoy hiking and capture the breathtaking scenery. The northern border is a coastline. One of the famous beaches on this coast is Haeundae Beach where you can enjoy the beach and surrounding hot springs.
The National University of Pusan is also located nearby. The area is filled with a lot of places to eat like bars, restaurants and noodle shops. Near the active port of Pusan is the Chagalchi Market. The market is made up of many narrow streets and is known all over Pusan for its fish market. Pusan is also known for its industries and companies.
In the southern part of the city are the Plaza Hotel and the building for Busan Region Patriots and Veteran Affairs. Moving further up you will find the Pusan IDC building. This is a famous building and is in the center of the city. Reaching here can help you back track to your original destination in case you get lost.
Further up north from the Pusan IDC building is the office for the DongBu Fire Insurance Company. On the right side of the insurance company is the Cho Yang Merchant Shipping Company. On the left side of the building is the Korean Airlines office. To the extreme north, you can find the offices of Cho Hung Bank, Kt Pusan Branch, the Dong Yang Trade building and the central Officetel building. Close to this area, you will also find Hotel Iisin Town.
