Manila is basically a place that is rich with historical places. This is because of the people that occupied this place much before it turned into what it is today. Till today, those historical structures they set up mark Manila’s history. Some of these plays that you could visit during your stay are mentioned below, in addition to other places where you could go to enjoy yourself.
One of the interesting places that you could go to includes the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, Fort Bonifacio. It is a reminder of the Second World War as well as all those who perished there because of the war. It represents World War 2, and the remains of the 17,000 individuals that perished because of the war. If you are looking for a peaceful day outdoors, this might be a nice place for you.
The Chinese Cemetery is another next place that you go to if you need some peace and quiet. You would also learn a great deal from visiting this place, as it has a significant amount of history attached to it. It was established in 1850's. Two people, Lim Ong and Tan Quien Sien, had established this cemetery for the Chinese that were not allowed to be buried in a Catholic cemetery. The area covers 54 hectares of land, and the cemetery has paved paths and large mausoleums that add to its beauty.
China town is the best place for goldsmiths, home altar accessories, jewelry stores, Chinese artifacts, mah-jongg sets, Chinese herbs that are used for medicines, etc. I would recommend a ride in a calesa, which is a horse-drawn carriage. It can take you to the important places within China Town, such as the more important streets like Ongpin St. Another place that you could go to is the Carfel Seashell Museum. Here you could get to see rare Seashells such as Conus gloriamaris (Glory of the Sea) and the Cypraea aurantium (Golden Cowry).
In order to have some activity other than simply strolling into a museum or trying to get hold of something interesting at China Town, you could play golf. In Manila there are places that allow you to have a good game of Golf, such as Metro Manila's 11 golfing greens. Undoubtedly, golf can be very entertaining and can take up your whole day. However, even more entertaining than this is the Jungle Survival Training Course that you may attend. In this training you could learn to do a lot of things in the jungle that help you survive.
Manila has some pretty good mountaineering areas. You could get in touch with the Metropolitan Mountaineering Society through your hotel and engage in some activity at the mountains. You would certainly enjoy this kind of activity in a pleasant climate with friendly people too. You might want to spend more than a day mountaineering, and of course you are most welcome to come back whenever the mountaineers are scheduled to climb again.
