In Cebu there are several things that one can do. Though there is plenty of sand and water for one to play in on the wonderful beaches in Cebu, there is much more to enjoy in the water and on land as well. From going shopping to scuba diving, there is plenty to fill your heart's desire
Starting off with the water sports it must be said that there are activities such as Windsurfing, Diving Surfing, & Snorkeling, Trekking, and Sailing. Of these, the one that is most commonly participated in is Scuba Diving. Of course, this is for a reason; the waters are spectacular above and below, and one can get down to the bottom, there is so much to see.
The deep sea life and the coral reefs are the most well known of the beauty that lies beneath. The sea life that might fascinate you can also be purchased. Of course this would have to be once you are out of the scuba kit. Scuba diving is one of the safest activities to participate in Cebu.
Therefore, if anything does happen to go wrong with the apparatus used, their skills are there to help you out. For handling Scuba gear and canoes Divers and Canoers are helpful, but if you are confident enough you may handle one on your own.
The alternative is for you to have a guide/expert sit in a canoe who can take you through the whole adventure. This seems dangerous but is more fun than anything else. It is relatively safe, and the average visitor would certainly want to try it out. In addition to the expertise involved, it also must be asserted that the waters where this activity takes place is calm.
Aside from diving and rides that you might participate in, there are:
Visiting Carcar (a colonial town)
Excursion to Moalboal, (a popular diving spot)
Visiting Negros, Bohol or Leyte by jet-craft
Shopping at the best malls in South East Asia
Boat cruises and picnics to nearby rocks and sandbars (These may be for the full day or a portion)
Shopping for handicrafts
Looking around for native foods
Visiting old churches
In addition to this, there are guided tours available to:
Fort San Pedro (Spanish fortress),
the Magellan Cross
the Basilica de Santo Niño (In remembrance of rediscovering the Christ-child statue in the days of the Spanish),
the Taoist Temple (gives one a view of Cebu's Chinese cultural legacy),
Gorordo House (an old archbishop's villa),
CAP Center
In addition to checking out these places on tour, there are golf courses that are recommended for you to visit and play at. The Alta Vista Golf and Country Club, located at Pardo, is a brilliant place to have a round of golf. It covers around Sixty hectares and accommodates a world-class, 72 par, 18-hole course.
There is also the Verdemar Golf Club that is located near the seaside. Those who want to play here more regularly during their stay may even stay at the Casa del Mar Resort Hotel, which is just near it.
