Bohol Overview

One of the best places to go to is Bohol when you need a vacation. This is because Bohol has a rich environment to fulfill your curiosity as far as its history is concerned. In view of its history, there is indeed plenty for one to see.

 

It must be asserted that there are plenty of historical structures still standing in Bohol, along with structures that have been constructed for the purpose of holding on to Bohol's history.

Bohol History

Bohol's history has indeed been a long one, involving different cultures, and these have each had their significant and relative impact on Bohol society; the impact can be seen in the form of structures that relate to influences of outsiders. In addition to this, there are particular beliefs and practices in this area that are uniquely native. As a result of the mixture that you see, there is plenty to teach you about the native beliefs as well as the beliefs that have resulted from colonial rule.



Bohol Geography

Bohol is known for its beauty, and its chocolate hills are extremely popular. Aside from the chocolate hills, Bohol is believed to be one of the best places for holiday making because it is untarnished. The following is a brief description of the some places in Bohol according to its map. These are described according to their standard geographical location.

In the North of Bohol, there is Letafe, and towards the right is Talibon. Then, coming down towards the North West of Bohol, you will reach Asinan first and then Maubid. Some distance further down you will reach Tubigon.

Directly in the West of Bohol, you will reach Lomboy and Calape. Further down is Loon. On taking the bend in the West side of Bohol, there is Cortes in the South West. In the south lies the airport, and bending towards the South further is Tagoilaran, Dauis, Baclayon and then Loay. Yet further are Dimiao, Garcia Hernandez and Jagna. Coming up to the South East is Gundulman and Bacong.

Some distance further up in the East is Cogtong, Pagahat Mabini. Up in the North East are Biabas and Libay. Aside from these locations on the coast, there are smaller pieces of land that are also used for holiday making. There are nearby and so it takes only a few minutes to reach them by boat.

Some of the important locations in mainland Bohol include Sagbayan in the North West and Dagohoy and Alicia in the North East. In Central Bohol, there is Carmen, and in the South are Bayahayan and Savilla Bilar. Towards the South West there is Antequera and Balilihan. There are perhaps very few spots that are unpolluted, and Bohol is one untouched area that is believed to be the best spot in South East Asia for diving. Indeed, it is termed as a haven for divers.

On observing the Bohol map, you can see the number of locations touching its surrounding waters. These are all spots from where you can go surfing and enjoy other water sports available to you. Some hotels may also provide special entertainment for you at the sea front and this depends on which place you are staying.
