           Things to do in Malacca

In Malacca, you can never say that you are short of things to see and do. Just looking around this magnificent city is something that can take up a whole day. When it comes to doing things, there is so much that you often want to do it all in one go. Examples of such activities that are bound to suck you in are the River Boat Cruise and the Bullock Cart Ride.

River Boat Cruise:

You may discover several things on a River Boat Ride. You can get to see many local and foreign traders conducting their businesses as you pass. Perhaps the greatest charm of the river ride is that it takes you through a winding flow into the old town. This almost feels as though you are going back in time to discover the roots of the place. While you are on the river boat ride, you can see a spot where the movie ‘Entrapment’ was filmed.

Bullock Cart Ride:

The Bullock Cart Ride is one of the activities in Malacca that takes you back in time, as it was their first means of transport. This ride is such that you have to sit in a cart that is drawn by a bullock. These are often brightly colored and have a pointed roof. Most visitors are tempted to take rides in these carts, and you may do so too for a fee of RM1.50 per person.

Gadek Hot Spring:

The hot spring is definitely recommended, as it is soothing and is known to have healing powers. This spring was discovered when British soldiers were in the area. The locals saw them and when the British left, the locals took control of the area. Many visitors know about this spring and make it a point to visit for healing or relaxation. Near this spring is a restaurant and playground too. This creates a greater attraction for visitors as is a perfect place for families. The timings are 7 am - 9 pm. For adults the fee for entry is RM2.00 while it is RM1.00 for children between the ages of 4 and 12.

Trishaw Ride:

Trishaw rides are also a nice way to enjoy Malacca. You just have to lean back and relax while the trishaw takes you to different parts of the city. It is a good idea to take these rides, as the riders know exactly where to take you; wandering on your own might mean that you miss out on the important places you should see. The Stadthuys is the place to go for these rides and you can hire a trishaw according to the hours you want or the distance you want to go.

Pulau Besar:

This is a wonderful place for those who love to experience sandy beaches, blue water and the warm sun. Pulau Besar is the place to be for all this, and it is an ideal place for swimming, fishing and snorkeling. There are some legends associated with this island, such as the "Keramat 7 Beradik", "Batu Belah", "Keramat Sultan Arifeen", "Makam Nenek Kebayan" and "Tasik Bunian". Pulau Besar was also a point where ancient ships dropped their anchors prior to Malacca being established.
