While staying in langkawi, there is a lot that you could see and do. Since this is a place that is known for its beauty, Langkawi is known for places that encourage you to visit. The people in charge of these places know that visitors come from many parts of the world and need to see the treasures this place has. The following are few brief descriptions of important places that you could visit while in Langkawi.

Kusha Town

This is the biggest town in langkawi. Visitors are usually attracted to this place in the first place because it is considered to be the capital of Langkawi. The airport and jetty are near to this town, and this is perhaps why it is also an immediate attraction to visitors. Having a convenient view of other places from the jetty, it is no wonder that people choose to come here immediately. Certainly, being a town, it is most attractive with its small sites and sounds for visitors to experience. The local way of living can be observed as well here.

Pantai Rhu which is also called Casuarina Beach

This is another beautiful place for one to see and enjoy too.

It has tall shady Casuarina trees because of which it is also known as Casuarina Beach. This location is believed to best for snorkeling with its magnificent coves wholesome with coral and marine life. People also sunbathe and swim here too.

Island Hopping

Island hopping is another interesting thing that visitors engage in while they are in Langkawi. In the process, Beras Basah and Tuba are encountered from this spot. Being ideal locations for picnics, visitors spend whole days here and still feel glued to the area after the day is over. The scenic beauty here is simply amazing with gorgeous sands and dazzling waters. In Singa Besar, you will also see a Wildlife Park that presents you with different wildlife observation towers. From here you may observe.

Seven Wells

Visitors also come to observe this stream from where freshwater pours down ninety meters through seven pools. The seven pools are the amazing part of this scene, and is indeed a sight worth taking time out to see.

Fishing Village Visits

Visiting the fishing villages is also interesting, and some of the visitors make it a point to check out how the fishermen work. Of course, it is not the most beautiful place to see, but it certainly is worth a trip to give you an idea of how much revenue this place earns from the fishing point of view.

Hot Springs

The story behind the emergence of the hot springs is interesting even if it is not necessarily true. Locals might tell you that the spring came into being because of a dispute between to families over a marriage that was rejected. During the quarrel utensils were flung at one another, and a jug of hot water was smashed on the floor. It is believed that where this jug was smashed, the spring came into being.

Padang Mat Sirat - The Burnt Rice Field

Padang Mat Sirat is situated around 18km from Kuah Town. Just like the Hot Springs is perhaps just a story, the Padang Mat Sirat is also believed to be similar. It is believed that the villages were burned down in this area by the occupants. They did this in order to deprive the invaders of taking control of the land and the rice that they had worked hard to cultivate.

Makam Mahsuri

Langkawi is well known for its legends, and much of the natural beauty or other occurrences in this place are explained through legends. The Hot Springs and the Burned Rice Field are examples of this. Similar to the way these are explained, the existence of white beaches is believed to have come into existence through seepage of white blood. It is said that a princess named Mahsuri. Mahsuri was sentenced to death because of having adultery.

The white blood was from her body, which only flowed after she was stabbed with her own knife. The soldiers could not kill her unless she was pierced with her own knife. When this happened, white blood flowed from her body, and this was evidence of her innocence. This white blood seeped into the ground. It is also believed that she cursed the island with lack of prosperity for seven generations. A tomb was raised at the spot she died, and it is named Makam Mahsuri, which is located around 12kilometers from Kuah town.
