Culture of Goa

In Goa a mixture of Hindu, Muslims and Christian races is found. They live with each other without any communal discord. The most popular celebrations in Goa are Christmas, Ganesh Chaturthi, New Year's Day, the Shigmo festival and the Carnival. Celebrations last for a few days and include parties and balls. All community festivals are celebrated with enthusiasm.

The monsoon season lasts from June to September and it is in this season that the city gets its share of rainfall. The hottest moths are April and May.

The major health risks to one’s health in Goa are the diarrhea and mosquito bites. Be sure to bring medicines and always drink mineral water. Avoid drinking tap water, eating green salad and uncooked foods. Also carry sunscreen with you to avoid exposure to the sun. Health services vary in different areas of Goa. Urban centers like Panaji and Vasco have good hospitals and pharmacies. Some of the standard hospitals in Goa are Chodanker Nursing Home and Research Centre, City Hospital, Cottage hospital and Dr.Kantak’s Hospital.
