The shops lining the Colaba Causeway sell lots of garments along with handicrafts and jewelry. The famous Chor Bazaar is a hot tourist spot where items of glassware, porcelain, lamps and crockery are available at moderate prices. At Zaveri Bazaar one may get a good deal on silver items. Dadar and Bandra also offer good gift items.

What to wear in Mumbai

People in Mumbai are very casual in clothing and the hot weather does not allow them to wear heavy clothes during the day. Jeans and top or shalwar-kameez is the dress most people wear. If you wear jeans or shorts, people will not be too surprised as young people like western clothing and ways of dressing. Cotton clothes are preferred due to the warm climate in the city.

Traveling around in Mumbai

Whenever you want to go somewhere make sure that you know the exact name of the place you want to go to and have enough information about the place as most of the people especially the taxi or rickshaw drivers do not understand English. Always check whether the meter is working or not before you sit in a taxi or a rickshaw. It is better to hire a car from the rental with a driver who can guide you. Buses and local trains are also good means of getting across in the city.

Health services in Mumbai

Always drink mineral water or boiled water as tap water is not suitable for people visiting the city for the first time. If you feel ill, contact a doctor through your hotel management or go to a proper hospital as many of the pharmacies in the city may have either expired medicines or they are not original. Some of the hospitals in Mumbai are Breach Candy Hospital, Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre, Bombay Hospital and J J Hospital.

Nightlife in Mumbai

Night is the time when Mumbai really starts hopping. There are a number of restaurants and night clubs in Mumbai that provide good food at moderate prices. Polyester, Athena, Koyla, Not Just Jazz by the Bay, and Geoffrey’s are some of the places that provide good music, mood and food. Some of them also have bars. Mumbai has a relaxed attitude towards alcohol and many restaurants serve wine. There are a number of bars in the city such as Insomnia and the Leopold Café and Bar.

Business in Mumbai

Being a city with a population of 18 million people, most of the people here hold private and government jobs. Due to the Bollywood industry, a lot of people from other places come here to try their luck. Being a harbor city, a lot of revenue is generated from fishing and sea traveling.
