           Things to do in Hyderabad

 

Hyderabad is also called the ‘City of Pearls’. The past glory of Hyderabad is a very rich one with a blend of Hindu and Muslim cultures. The city of Hyderabad with its historical sites and markets full of beautiful things to buy offers something for everyone to take back to its history and relish the glorious past of this city. Apart from historical places to visit there are a number of things that one can do in Hyderabad that make one’s tour a memorable one.

Amravati or Amaresvaram

Is the place to be in if one goes to Hyderabad for a visit. It houses the best known Buddha relics in India. It was also considered as one of the most sacred Buddhist pilgrimage centers in India. Amravati is famous for having the largest Stupa, which was built during the 2nd century. It also holds extensive mounds of Dharankota located on the west of Amravati, together with Nagarjunakonda and Amravati from the Golden Triangle of Buddhism in Andhra Pradesh.

Ballooning

To go for Ballooning is a wonderful pastime through which one can drift along for hours while looking at the scenes passing below. Balloons are launched during summer from January to April and in winter from October to December depending upon the weather conditions.

Shilparamam Crafts Village

Is a place to be in with its lovely rocks, rippling water falls and gorgeous lawns. Located about 14 km from Hyderabad, it is host to the traditions of art and craft in India. The annual All India Festival of Arts & Crafts held in the month of February brings cultural and artistic traditions from every part of the country to be explored and bought as a gift.

Wildlife Sanctuaries

To pay a visit to the wonderful Wildlife Sanctuaries is a must do activity while one is in Hyderabad. Eturnagaram Sanctuary, Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary, Pochram Sanctuary and Pulicat Bird Sanctuary, all contain something very interesting for the bird and animal lovers to see and explore.

The Hyderabad Puppet Theatre

Aims to educate while entertaining at the same time. It also conducts programs for all types of occasions. The uniqueness of this theater lies in the fact that it acts as a link between the traditional and contemporary and the shows here are produced for all age groups.

Hyderabadi Cuisine

Another thing to try while staying in Hyderabad is its Cuisine which is a blend of heavy Moghul influence. The traces of Telangana cuisine are also found it. Some of the famous dishes of Hyderabad are Hyderabadi Biryani, Chakna, Baghare Bayngan, Khubani ka Mitha and Double ka Mitha, as well as Halim. The restaurants in the city serve all kinds of foods from Indian to Chinese to continental, so getting the food of one’s choice is very easy.

Treasure Island

Is the place to go to with azure pools and blue lagoons, beautiful landscape, camel rides, go carting and nature adventures. 16 km away from the city of Hyderabad, this is a great gateway and acts as a therapy for rejuvenating people of all ages.

Nehru Zoological Park

The zoo in Hyderabad is a popular spot among visitors; the Nehru Zoological Park is one of the biggest zoos in Asia with more than 250 animal species. Over 2000 animals and birds are in this zoo living in their natural environment which is spread over an area of 300 acres.
