Bamboo Temple is located approximately 15 kilometers (9 miles) from the center of Kumming. When you arrive at the temple, you will be greeted by four trees that were planted approximately 400 years ago, during the Ming Dynasty. The next thing that will catch your eye is the well designed courtyard which was built over four carefully laid out layers. The main hall has many statues of Buddha built over lotus thrones.
The temple is undoubtedly the most famous one in the area. It has a lot of Arhat statues on display. Arhats were well-known saints and monks in Chinese Buddhism. The temple was built over a period of seven years by the architect Li Guangxiu from the Sichuan region. His artwork is one-of-a-kind and it has realistic appearance. It will take approximately two hours to tour and enjoy viewing this place. There are various means of getting to the temple, most people visit by taxi which will cost around RMB 40. The temple is open 8 am to 6pm and the admission fee is RMB 10.
Green Lake Park (Cuihu Gongyuan)
Green Lake Park is located in the western part of the city. You can reach it by taxi, which costs about RMB 10 or by bus. Bus rides start from the railway station and circle the park. This is the only park in Kunming that is open until 10 pm. The admission fee costs about RMB 2.
The park attracts a lot of birds during the winter season. The birds which migrate here are the red-beaked gulls which migrate from Siberia. The park offers a lot of restaurants and bars and since the park is open late, you can enjoy the nightlife as well in the park.
Dadieshui Waterfall (Dadieshui Pubu)
This waterfall is one of the largest and most famous waterfalls of China. It is located southwest of the Stone Forest in Lunan County. The waterfall is 30 meters wide (100 feet) and drops at the speed of 150 cubic meters per second (500 feet). The splash of the water cannot be seen from the top as it disappears in a mist. To get to this waterfall, you can take a minibus or taxi.
